In 'Red Light' Carice van Houten ('Game of Thrones'), Halina Reijn ('Instinct') and Maaike Neuville ('The Twelve') portray three women with completely different backgrounds whose lives unexpectedly intertwine. Sylvia, a prostitute, runs a brothel with her shady boyfriend/pimp, Esther is a well known soprano and comes from a wealthy environment and Evi is a policewoman trying to combine a major case with her family life. The three of them get caught up in a world of human trafficking, prostitution and exploitation between Amsterdam & Antwerp. When Esther’s husband disappears, they find themselves in need of each other's help in order to get out of their precarious situations.
Van Houten and Reijn created the prestigious project, produced by Peter Bouckaert and Gunter Schmid for Eyeworks Belgium and Nelsje Musch-Elzinga, Mark Furstner and Erwin Godschalk forHollands Licht (The Netherlands), in co-production with VTM and BNNVARA, in collaboration with Man Up Film. The series was realised with the support of the Flanders Audiovisual Fund / Media Fund, The Netherlands Film Production Incentive and the Belgium Tax Shelter incentive in collaboration with SCIO Productions. CANNESERIES alumni Wouter Bouvijn ('The Twelve') co-directed together with Anke Blondé ('The Best of Dorien B.').
